A short, current account of where my attention is — published under my married name, Joan Osunde, though much of the work and writing also appears under my maiden name, Joan Urevbu.
Building
- Parent communication at scale. Refining the SMS messaging pipeline that carries school updates to thousands of families — built to work on every phone, with no app and almost no data.
- School operations software. Timetabling, teaching-assignment and daily-logistics tools for multi-campus schools, so a term runs without spreadsheets quietly collapsing.
- Gate & pickup logistics. The unglamorous safety problem of the last hundred meters — who collects which child, kept orderly and accountable every afternoon.
Writing
Adding, one considered piece at a time, to a small set of essays on education technology, low-bandwidth design and institutional trust. Read them on the writing page or in full at joanurevbu.com/writing.
Where
Between Benin City, Nigeria and Porto Alegre, Brazil — two places that keep my sense of what counts as reliable infrastructure honest.
